Volunteering with harmoniacasa, provides the opportunity to be involved with the community by assisting where they need it the most and living with a family.  We feel this is the best way to be involved and learn the culture and of course the language...a total submersion...dive right in!

We require a placement fee to cover administrative expenses and you pay the homestay family directly the weekly or monthly fee, depending on your needs and the families.  The money goes directly to the family to cover their expenses plus a little extra that they normally would not have.  We belive that this is the best situation for all involved.  You volunteer your time, pay a small fee for your room and food and in exchange, you receive a once in a lifetime experience and education.

Currently, we have positions available in Grecia & Naranjo which are both located in the Central Valley and are a short distance from each other.  We also have opportunities in Victoria and surrounding area through different organizations.  Below is the outline of the costs:


Placement fee = $250 US (this covers admin time and is a one time non refundable fee.)

Homestay fee = Ask us for rates.  Homestay includes a bed, TV, and 2-3 meals a day.  This fee is paid directly to the family for their expenses!

Volunteer Placements

There are a large variety of projects with the Grecia area as well as other opportunites throughout Costa Rica. These can meet all kinds of needs and are available all year round. Deposit and participation expenses apply to all the projects.

  • The placement must be preceded by 4 weeks minimum Spanish course.

  • Personalized service to meet individual needs.

  • Available to all (from 18 to 90 years old!).

  • The selection process has few restrictions.

  • Certain placements require previous experience or studies in related fields, others   require little experience or knowledge. 

  • The stay varies from a few weeks to several months.

  • They are not remunerated.

  • The placement is guaranteed.

  • All nationalities welcome.
